Eco Policy

Fabrics
We aim to bring you the most beautiful sustainable fabrics available.

Organic Cotton
All our organic cotton is certified by Skal, a Dutch organic certification body. Not only does this certify that no pesticides and fertilisers have been used it also guarantees the working conditions of farmers.

Hemp
Hemp is an extremely eco-friendly fabric, it naturally needs little or no pesticides or fertilisers to grow, uses much less water than cotton and produces three times as much fibre.

Silk
In this collection our Aya blouse and Rana camisole are made from organically produced  silk, so no chemicals have ben used to process the silk. The Aya blouse is made from peace silk, this means the silk worms come to the end of their life cycle naturally before the cocoons are harvested. The silk is farmed and woven by our suppliers in India who own their own mills so they can control working conditions and wages.

Tencel
Tencel is a fabric made from wood pulp cellulose. Its environmentally-friendly production process was awarded the European ECO Award.

Recylced fabrics
We're  used a small amout of recyled polyester in this collection. The polyster fibres are recycled and woven into new fabrics. It's been blened with hemp in our Najat shorts.

Carbon Offsetting
The very nature of fair-trade means working with artisans in developing countries, but this means we have to transport our garments from Morocco to the UK. We offset the carbon emissions from the transportation of our garments and our flights to and from Morocco by donating to projects in developing countries that reduce carbon emissions.

Social Policy

We do our best to ensure we only work with fabric suppliers that also guarantee safe working conditions and living wages for their employees.

We work directly with women artisans in the Middle Atlas mountains in Morocco to make our garments. We voluntarily work with them according to IFAT (International Fair Trade Association) guidelines (we hope to join them officially when we have been trading for two years). We pay them three times the minimum wage, make advance payments, help them with training and assist them in acquiring more machinery and technology to grow their business.
